Long ago, before the First War, the warlock Gul'dan exiled a clan of orcs called the Frostwolves to a hidden valley deep in the heart of the Alterac Mountains. It is here in the valley's southern reaches that the Frostwolves eked out a living until the coming of Thrall.
After Thrall's triumphant uniting of the clans, the Frostwolves, now led by the Orc Shaman Drek'Thar, chose to remain in the valley they had for so long called their home. In recent times, however, the relative peace of the Frostwolves has been challenged by the arrival of the Dwarven Stormpike Expedition.
The Stormpikes have set up residence in the valley to search for natural resources and ancient relics. Despite their intentions, the Dwarven presence has sparked heated conflict with the Frostwolf Orcs to the south, who have vowed to drive the interlopers from their lands.
Arathi Basin Map
Trollbane Hall vs. Defiler's Den
- Once you enter Arathi Basin through the swirling red instance portal, the Battleground will begin its countdown. Alliance players will appear in the League's camp at Trollbane Hall, located in the northwest of the Basin. Horde players will appear in the southeast of the map in the Defiler's Den.
Just outside both Trollbane Hall and the Defiler's Den are a graveyard and three roads leading into the rest of Arathi Basin. One road arcs around the western edge of the map, while another circles along the east edge. The third passage cuts through the center of the Basin Along these roads lay the key resource nodes over which you will fight.
This humble bastion is home to the League of Arathor, the valiant organization sworn to support their beleaguered troops by recovering the supplies left behind in Arathi Basin. The proud members of the Alliance begin their supply expedition from the relative safety of the Hall.
